UPDATE: The district website states: PSE&G and the fire department have cleared Montclair High after investigating a gas smell and the students are back in the building.

Montclair High School has been evacuated due to a gas leak. Holly Korus is on the scene and reports:

According to Principal Earle, there was a gasoline leak in the auto shop in the back of the school. The entire school was evacuated and Chestnut St. closed for precautionary measure and to let the fumes from the gas air out.

So glad it was discovered quickly and that no one was injured!

Is it too soon to make a joke about what they served for lunch?

Stopped by on opening day to take out a dozen empanadas. Very welcoming space, especially with the storefront glass open on a warm spring day and sidewalk tables available; and, the staff were warm and engaged. The empanadas are soft and pastry-like, rather than the harder crisper type. They got a thumbs up from the Morales family, who loves them a good empanada!
