Video: What Romney Has in Common with Eminem

By now you have most likely seen this Mitt Romney-meets-Eminem video mash up (after the jump), but we wanted to share it just in case you hadn’t. Titled “Will the Real Mitt Romney Please Stand Up?” it  plays off Romney’s reputation among voters and the media as an confoundingly enigmatic flip-flopper. (Warning: don’t watch this with the kids around; some of the content is for mature audiences only.)

That reputation wasn’t helped yesterday when the candidate’s senior adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, put his foot in his mouth during an interview with CNN after Romney’s decisive win in the Illinois primary.  When he was asked if Romney’s recent rightward tilt would hurt him with moderate voters, Fehrnstrom had this to say, according to an NJ.com article:

Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch a Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again.

Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich both carried Etch-a-Sketches with them on the campaign trail yesterday.

  1. “Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich both carried Etch-a-Sketches with them on the campaign trail yesterday.”

…and both thought they were iPads.

  2. I look forward to Mitt trying to explain the differences between his health care reform and Obama’s. “Well, mine was printed on more of an ochre-colored paper. Obama’s was on what I would call an eggshell.”

I am not happy about Obama’s reversals on Guantanamo, rendition, etc. But of course, Republican hypocrites haven’t given him any credit for it either.

  3. “I look forward to Mitt trying to explain the differences between his health care reform and Obama’s…”

    Gonna be fun to watch.

  4. “Look I made a lot of money, factually
I drive a couple of Cadillacs, actually.”

This video is brilliant. I can only imagine how many hours went into this.

  5. Talking about a flip flopper…Maobama is on CNBC as I type talking about what high priority the Keystone pipeline is to him.

    Is inept clown kidding me?

  6. That mike91 finds this video “brilliant” isn’t much of a tribute to his own taste.

But that he apparently imagines it actually took “how many hours” truly indicates the limitations of his “progressive” brain.

  7. herb,

How DARE you show, or even suggest that Obama has ever “Flipped”? The man wrote TWO biographies– he’s the most eloquent orator, and he sings so well.

No one really cares about his position “shifts.”

To expect a post here critical of him, is to suppose a certain fairness.

When Obama said there were 51 States (a great video that with 3.5 million views), it was chalked up as a “slip of the tongue.” If anyone else makes a mistake, it’s proof of some deeper, nefarious pattern (“I like to fire people”).

    It’s simple math: Democrat=smart/caring; Republican=dumb/haters

Even this Independent sees it played out on a daily basis.

And don’t get me started on how some news is just “not covered” as much as others. The most recent is Cee-Lo Green cursing and flipping the bird at the White House https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/03/cee-lo-green-sings-f-you-at-obama-fundraiser/

Moreover, Obama’s (dumb) position (against) “gay” marriage will also not be highlighted, but it will be featured for the Republican nominee as an further proof of a pattern of uncaring.

  8. Romney’s flip flopping pales in comparison to the mountain of Obama’s policy reversals, failures, broken promises, and lies.

  9. whowantwhat, whatever you might say about the president, he won for the very simple reason that the idea of a Vice President Sarah Palin was preposterous and disgusting to a majority of American voters.
You should have written McCain a letter. Perhaps your gal would have been replaced in October with someone else and John McCain would be doing his “bomb-bomb-Iran” speech again with some other side kick going to the state funerals overseas.

  10. When Obama said there were 51 States (a great video that with 3.5 million views), it was chalked up as a “slip of the tongue.” If anyone else makes a mistake, it’s proof of some deeper, nefarious pattern (“I like to fire people”).

So you believe Obama thinks there are 57 states, right? (He did say 57, not 51.)

If anyone else makes a mistake, it’s proof of some deeper, nefarious pattern (“I like to fire people”).

Actually, its indicative of what he did at Bain capital, which was break up companies, employees be damned, if that meant the most money for his investors.

No one really cares about his position “shifts.”

The left should give him more grief about keeping those things from the Bush admin he said he’d get rid of, its true. Of course, he gets grief from Republicans for ‘flip-flopping’ on that stuff, but no credit for keeping things they originally established. And Republicans, they’re just so honest with each other! The criticisms from the right Bush got! I think I remember Dick Cheney once said something about his tie.

    It’s simple math: Democrat=smart/caring; Republican=dumb/haters

Which party’s candidates for President regularly volunteer that they “don’t believe” in evolution? Which currently second place candidate once authored legislation mandating “teaching the controversy”? Which same candidate said that offering the opportunity for everyone to go to college made Obama a “snob”?

One party may not be smarter than the other, but Republicans are certainly anti-intellectual.

And go check out Ryan’s latest budget and let me know who’s more ‘caring.’ They’ll say its “tough love” for the poor, but I think they’re saying only one of those words.

  11. That mike91 finds this video “brilliant” isn’t much of a tribute to his own taste.

I thought it was funny, yes. I suppose if it was set to big band music, you’d be more on board.

  12. “I suppose if it was set to big band music, you’d be more on board.”

    right, because libs are hip….bwahhahahahahaha

Seriously how disappointing is this Chairman Maobama to you libs?

  13. Oh, sorry, Mike91.

Your “proof” has showed me the way– Dems care, because of Ryan’s budget offers “tough love.” We cannot, of course, compare that to Obama and the Dems failing (in the past) to, ah, even offer/pass a budget, the deficit, the spending— all of it on the backs of the young, but Dems care. Because they spend!!

Tell that to the record number of Blacks unemployed under Obama. But he cares (he sang an Al Green song!)!! (But check out the labor participation rate vs. unemployment to see his real greatness).

And is “evolution” the litmus test? To me, it’s as dumb as someone believing in denying a fundamental right to marry to a US Citizens. (DOMA passed by Clinton, opposition to “gay” marriage Obama).

But your post makes my point. Dems are smart and REALLY care about YOU! Repubs are dumb and HATE you. We get it.

You’ve done nothing but express this view since you got on B-net.

(But I’m going out to supervise my team of landscapers on getting the grounds to my Palatial Estate in UPPER Montclair ready for Spring. So let’s just agree to disagree on who cares and who is smart, for I believe each kind are on both sides of the aisle.)

And republicans are so fiscally conservative they spent billions and billions on the war in Iraq. That you can say republicans spend less with a straight face is laughable. At least Obama spent our money on this country. And speaking of the young, and wars, just who did Bush send over there for no good reason?

Tell that to the record number of Blacks unemployed under Obama. But he cares (he sang an Al Green song!)!! (But check out the labor participation rate vs. unemployment to see his real greatness).

Nice statistical cherry picking there. A record number of black are unemployed because a recond number of people are unemployed, period. And who did Bush give the majority of his tax cuts to? The poor people, surely, right?

And is “evolution” the litmus test? To me, it’s as dumb as someone believing in denying a fundamental right to marry to a US Citizens. (DOMA passed by Clinton, opposition to “gay” marriage Obama).

Evolution is certainly the litmus test when it comes to denying scientific reality. You can be opposed to gay marriage without resorting to magical thinking, although I wish Obama was more for it. But no doing anything about it is certainly better than being actively against it, as the right is. Would DOMA go undefended under Santorum?

  16. That’s not my work but how true it is.

Yes, because trite generalizations are always so true and full on insight. You’ve really added to the discussion.

  17. ….and here comes Mike’s personal attacks. The pattern of a (once again) beatin man. Don’t you get tired of coming on here and getting whipped around?

  18. Its not a personal attack to say that post added nothing to the discussion. touchy touchy.

I didn’t see you comment yesterday after everyone’s posts proved that the healthcare bill wasn’t going to cost more, contrary to that link you posted. Did you respond, or were you wrong and just haven’t admitted it, as usual?

And we’re still waiting for your proof that Obama has been manipulating the employement numbers. Still collating that, are you?

  19. Mike , Mike, Mike, we’ve been down this road soooo many times there is just no reason to debate this stuff anymore. Thankfully Herb has been busy at work lately so I don’t have the time for the back and forth which we’ve enjoyed so many times before. I ain’t changing you and you certainly ain’t changing me.
I do admit that I enjoy trouncing you weekly in a match of wit and knowledge.I’ll miss it.

The bottom line is that is that Chairman Maobama will get absolutely crushed in this Presidential election. Check the Senator races never mind the 3 or 4 the R’s need to pick up they are steam rolling right now (granted nobody can blow it easier than R’s). Once this primary nonsense ends people will get behind Mitt for Brains and he will waltz into office.
    Kumbayah !! and remember………….

  20. Agree STQ and given the choice between big O as prez and Palin being within a handful of heartbeats from the oval office I wanted to shoot myself. Instead I just didn’t vote. The prior administration was an even bigger joke than both of them combined. None of that means we should have to settle for such a low calibre president as Obama. Substance over form perhaps? After four hears of hearing one thing and getting another its time for a change. Romney offers that and thats why big O is afraid. Romney has the ear of the independents and those liberals just left of center and those conservatives just right of center. He won’t appeal to the far bible thumping right and the tea party and he also won’t appeal to the commi left and OWS, and that is why I like him. He is a guy who can sit at the head of the table, hear and process the pros and cons of both sides and then make a decision. A decision which may fall anywhere on the political spectrum, thats being open minded and logical in the name of progress.

  21. I do admit that I enjoy trouncing you weekly in a match of wit and knowledge.I’ll miss it.

Sure. Given the the sentences before this one were basically avoiding my questions, you keep thinking that.

The bottom line is that is that Chairman Maobama will get absolutely crushed in this Presidential election.

    We’ll see.

  22. “After four hears of hearing one thing and getting another its time for a change. Romney offers that and thats why big O is afraid.”

And Romney is the antidote to this? If you listen to things he’s said, and pay attention to things he did as governor, you can go back over the past few years and find that his actual positions (not the ones he’s making up to get elected) have often been closer to Obama’s than any other candidate. If he weren’t pandering to the crazies of the party, you’d find he’s pretty middle of the road, just like Obama. The frightening thing is whether or not he’ll continue to stick to positions he doesn’t really believe just to pretend he’s one of them.

  23. Agree JG but again, thats why I like him. He of course has to play the game in the nomination process, but ultimately he governs in a way that says “I’m not afraid of where my policies/decisions fall on the political spectrum”

And then you make an AWESOME point. Mitt is simply pandering for the purposes of winning the nomination (Im fine with that), as you say, he really is more in the MIDDLE. (I like this). I am most concerned with where a candidate REALLY stands, you have to cut thru the election BS to get a feel for that.

  24. Can’t we get a mulligan, or vote “none of the above”? Obama hasn’t impressed me with the last four years, but none of the Republican candidates impress me with what they’re offering for the next four. Come November, I’ll vote for the lesser evil, but it’d nice to vote for someone I actually thought would be a good president, not merely “least bad.”

  25. “Agree JG but again, thats why I like him. He of course has to play the game in the nomination process, but ultimately he governs in a way that says “I’m not afraid of where my policies/decisions fall on the political spectrum”

And you’re sure of that? He’s so strong, he won’t be pushed around by the nuts? I think he just wants to be president and if he wins, he will be one of the worst presidents ever because he’ll be pushed around (just like W was led by the collar by Cheney, and that turned out well).

  26. Should Romney win in November (shudder), he will most certainly kowtow to all of the right wing nuts in Congress. Otherwise he’s a one termer within his own party.

But since he’s not going to win the general election, the point is moot.

  27. All presidents are pushed around. Bush was a certifiable idiot, no point even drawing comparisons to him.

And for the record, no one has been pushed around more so than Obama relative to his core beliefs. I would bet my life that at heart he is an agnostic man who would never question a womans right to choose nor anyones right to marry whomever they want and I would agree with him wholeheartedly but he won’t come out and say that. It gets worse, he extended the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest in the country. To me these sorts of things amount to being heavily pushed around so lets not focus on that. Lets focus on a fact that we have a president willing to entertain all solutions regardless of their origination or how they might be viewed by the other side. Thats a pretty cool thing.

  28. “right, because libs are hip”

    herb, it’s absolutely true!

Last concert I went to I saw all the Obama supporters clapping and stomping on the down beat, and all the Santorum supporters were snapping their fingers on the up beats and their feet didn’t move at all.
