This just in from the Montclair Board of Education:

“Dear Bullock Parents/Guardians/Caregivers:

It is my pleasure to announce that Ms. Nami Kuwabara has been appointed principal of the Charles H. Bullock School effective July 1.

Ms. Kuwabara is well known to the Montclair community. She has served as a teacher at Rand/Bullock for the past 10 years. During her time in the district, she has served as chair of the School Action Team (formerly School Review), participated in numerous curricular committees, contributed to several district-wide initiatives and assumed a leadership position with the Montclair Education Association.

She is an exceptional educator. In 2011, she was Montclair’s Teacher of the Year. Her knowledge of teaching and learning, mentoring skills, and professional development experiences will enable her to continue the positive trends that have been notable at Bullock School during the past several years.

Ms. Kuwabara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Baruch College, a Master of Science in education from Fordham University and a Master of Arts in educational administration from Caldwell College.

During the next few weeks, Ms. Kuwabara will begin transition activities. I trust you will join me in warmly welcoming Ms. Kuwabara as she assumes the helm at Bullock School.

Sincerely,
Frank Alvarez
Superintendent”
