Three-Car Crash at Bloomfield and Pine

A tipster sent us this photo of an accident that occurred this afternoon near the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Pine, just across from Panera and Smashburger.  At least one victim was taken away by ambulance. This area has been the scene of several accidents lately.

  1. Between the cars backed up in the eastbound right lane waiting to get into the poorly located car wash and other people stopping in the left lane to make illegal left turns over a solid double yellow to get into the new shopping center, it’s no surprise that the area is accident prone. Perhaps the free Slurpees they are giving away today did not help as well. It also doesn’t help that so many people make the death left (I call it that as I won’t do it), out of the shopping center to go east on Bloomfield Avenue.

  2. How is this any different than the rest of Bloomfield Ave? Driving along bloomfield at any given time makes city driving seem like a walk in the park.

  3. The only other portion of Bloomfield Avenue I see the illegal crossing frequently (and accidents as well) is into Starbucks/Bottle King down in Glen Ridge, into the Dunkin Donuts lot and in and out of Whole Foods in Montclair. There is a big difference when someone stops to make a left onto a side street as drivers expect it, versus into a parking lot, where drivers don’t. Especially when the double yellow is crossed.

  4. ” Everyone is driving too fast for the traffic conditions in Baristaville”… and so correct Spectator ! They tail gste (I hate thst the most….get offa my @$$ !!!!) 3 of my cars have in excess of 400 Horse-Power… but I never speed and never do dumb moves. Slow the “H” down!
The drivers that tailgate, speed and “play the lanes” more often than not are in hondas and Toyas. They are leasted. there is absolutly NO “atachment to the car, and in 24 months they get a new one.)

I’ve never driven past the Pathmark when someone wasn’t crossing the double yellow lines to get into that lot.

  6. I love Ave. B! Whenever I’m in a funky mood, I drive up & down it yelling at left turning schmoes. What a release. I am replenished and ready for whatever life throws at me.
