Hideous Heat Doesn’t Halt Hula Hoopers

Hula Hoop Happening in Anderson Park

Despite the steamy weather, a hardy band of hula hoopers was twirling and swirling in Anderson Park last night. Part of a Hula Hoop Happening spearheaded by Jennifer Manderichio, a zumba instructor at Fred Astaire, the free event was the first of three hula hoop happenings this summer. The other two are scheduled for July 18 and August 15.

Perhaps by then it will have cooled down a bit.

Manderichio has another event planned for Friday, June 22 at the park.  Called “Signs of Happiness,” it is inspired by the Facebook group, Spreading Happy. Participants are asked to bring any positive message on a sign, then “hold it up high, so everyone can see!” It will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will take place near the Bellevue Ave. entrance to the park. For more information, call Manderichio at 201.305.3663.
