The Montclair Community Pre-K (MCPK) has received a $5,000 grant for the school’s Related Arts Program from The Montclair Foundation. The Related Arts Program utilizes as its faculty well respected local arts and music educators and encompasses such areas as fine arts, music and movement, choral education, Spanish language and culture, environmental education including garden projects,  and physical education as part of its curriculum.

The study of fine art and visits to The Montclair Art Museum and the study of international musical instruments are some highlights of the program. The program is unique at the preschool level. At the conclusion of the school year the MCPK holds performances of its Moving Theatre Project, a program created by the students based on folktales and poems that is facilitated by Related Arts faculty.  This performance is a culmination of the activities in which the children participate during the school year.

The Montclair Foundation’s grant program supports a broad range of activities and organizations that contribute to the quality of life in Montclair and its environs. To register for the MCPK for the fall or for tour information, contact the school at 973-509-4500 or visit the website.
