The Essex Singer-Songwriter Competition Grand Finale Is This Saturday

We told you about The Modern Music Academy’s Essex Singer-Songwriter Competition last month. Now, after local artists auditioned via in-house and video submissions, it’s down to eight competitors after the Semi-final round of auditions held at Whole Foods of Montclair, NJ last Saturday. And guess who is in the final eight? My favorite local teen singer/songwriter Maya Ines! That’s her stage name—her real name is Maya Bensalam and she’s in the running:

The contest will end in a Grand Finale on Saturday, June 17 at 5 pm at Just Jake’s in Montclair. Go there and heat this local talents. Root them on and hope your favorite wins! It costs $10 per person, but that money will be donated to the non-profit of your choice explains Jenny Zellea, Co-Director of the Modern Music Academy, “We are excited to be orchestrating an event that will benefit the community.” “We also look forward to working with talented individuals whose passion revolves around music and the songs they write,” continued both Jarrett and Jenny Zellea.

The grand prize winner of the event will have the opportunity to record a 3-song EP with Jarrett Zellea, (2-time Grammy-Award-Winning Producer and Composer, and owner of The Modern Music Academy) valued at over $6,000. Other prizes include big giveaways from our sponsors, free music lessons, and free producing and recording sessions.
