Imagine one hour of yoga, while your kids (ages 4 – 8) are right across the hall taking their own yoga class, with storytime, music, crafts and more. You get a heavenly hour of an energizing and/or relaxing yoga practice and your children benefit too. Perfect!
Amy Para, owner of Starseed, will be teaching the kids’ class, which will dynamically combines creative yoga play, story telling, art projects and more. Amy Witmyer will lead parents, or caregivers, in a wonderful yoga session. Whether you need to relax and recharge, rev-up or simply to be re-inspired, she says she will give you exactly what you need.
My girls aren’t in camp yet, so I took them over to Starseed yesterday to sample what Summer Sanctuary will be like. It was only us, so we didn’t experience exactly what it will be like, but we enjoyed an hour together doing yoga, playing a crystal bowl and more. It was just what we needed on a rainy, dreary day.
This is the type of class that I would have loved when I was a stay-at-home mom with a young child. Sure, Mommy & Me or Family Yoga classes are great and there’s a place for them, but let’s face it—sometimes you just want to be alone doing something you love. This is better than dropping your child off in the sitter service at a gym or studio, because they are getting a full class too, at the same time.
Summer Sanctuary will run through August and Amy Para says if the demand is high, they would love to continue it in the fall. Classes are held on Thursdays from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm at $170 for 7 week series (Price includes parent & child) or Drop-in at $25 for both parent & child. Have more than one kid? It’s only an additional $5 per child.
