Last Day for Community Garden Stand, but Bigger Harvests Await with Added Land

Today — right now, in fact — is the last time this season to purchase fresh, Montclair-grown veggies at the Montclair Community Garden Farm Stand, located at 33 Fulton Street. The stand has been operated by the Montclair Community Farms Project, which teaches local youth to grow, harvest and sell produce at below-market prices to area residents.

As the organization’s growing and selling season winds down, there is news that the Montclair Historical Society is alloting 6,000 square feet of land on the grounds of the Clark House on Orange Road, for next season’s planting. Added to the Project’s current Miller Street site, this will quadruple their acreage, and add eggs, from on-site chickens, to their mix of fresh foodstuffs.

The Historical Society plans to launch their participation in the initiative with a celebration on October 27.
