Everywhere parents turn, someone is telling them how to be better, how to make their kids smarter, how to be perfect. Magazines include handy guides, websites show slideshows of impossibly perfect or horrible parenting, and friends and neighbors seem to breeze through the hardships of raising children. How can parents find reality between the extremes?

Dr. Rob Handelman knows that parents face great pressures and challenges to be “the best.” He has created a six-week session on Mindful Parenting to help parents learn practical skills to respond to their children more out of thoughtfulness and connection, and less out of emotional reactivity. The classes will combine discussion, experiential learning, relaxation/breathing exercises and the exploration of other mindful techniques.

Six-week sessions in Mindful Parenting are forming now in which participants will learn skills, share knowledge, and grow as parents and communicators. Both sessions below are on Wednesdays from 10:15 to 11:30 am:

Session I: October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and November 7
Session II: November 14, 21, 28 and December 5, 12 and 19

All classes are $240 per six-week session and meet at 108 Baker Street
Maplewood, NJ. For more information email DrRobH@Hotmail.com or call (646) 232-0013.
