Mail Lost in N.J. Mail Truck Fire

Mail collected Sept. 7 to 10th from Montclair and other zip codes starting with 070 to 076, 078, 079, 088 or 089 was lost in a fire, according to northjersey.com:

Those who may have had letters or packages bound for government offices on the truck should check with the appropriate state agency to determine their status. The administration says it wants to ensure no one is penalized or loses state benefits due them.

  1. Dear Director, Internal Revenue Service:

It turns out that I was wrong when I told you “the dog ate my tax returns.” I actually finished them, signed them, and enclosed the $1.3 million I owed in cash, but I have just found out that the mail truck in which they were being transported caught fire.

    Regards,

    Willard M. Romney
