Bloomfield High School Bengals are on hunt, and ready to take on the undefeated Montclair High School Mounties on Thanksgiving Day at 10:30 a.m. in Woodman Field . Both teams want to bring home the Investors Cup, which the Mounties (shown above) won in 2011.

For the second year in a row, Investors Bank is adding a new twist to the classic Thanksgiving football game that pits the Bloomfield High School Bengals (8-1) against the Montclair High School Mounties (9-0). Teams are playing for bragging rights as the “top local gridiron squad” and the opportunity to take home the Investors Cup.

The winner will keep the trophy until the Bengals and the Montclair Mounties meet on the gridiron in 2013. For over 80 years, the Bengals and Mounties have faced each other in this football classic that is now sponsored by Investors Bank.

This year, the game will kick off at Woodman Field in Montclair on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22 at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are available at the field and cost is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students and seniors.

Before and during the game, members of the Investors team will distribute mini footballs to fans that will have the message: Montclair vs. Bloomfield – The Investors Cup Game. The Bank is also giving away stadium cushions with the Investors logo while the supply lasts.

Investors President and CEO Kevin Cummings will toss the coin before the opening kickoff.  Mr. Cummings, said, “By establishing the Investors Cup, we are honoring all the coaches, players and fans that are part of the grand football traditions in Bloomfield and Montclair high schools. Our Bank is grateful to be playing a part in one of the Garden State’s longest running Thanksgiving Day games.”

Following the game, managers of the Bank’s branches in Bloomfield and Montclair will present the cup to the coach and captains of the winning team. They will also recognize the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game from the Bengals and Mounties. During each team’s end-of-the-season awards ceremony, the MVP will receive a $500 scholarship from the Bank.

And we can get this project completed in time for Montclair's sesquicentennial when we can stick a fork into historic preservation as a public policy.
