Memories of the Jersey Shore have been on so many minds recently, along with a desire to help those most affected by Hurricane Sandy. Tonight, a local Sandy relief fundraiser brings the two together. While they’ve decided to postpone a planned Monte Carlo night, The Kessler Foundation is instead hosting Rebuilding Lives After Hurricane Sandy: A Benefit for People With Disabilities.
The event, which will takes place at The Grove in Cedar Grove, from 7 to 10 pm, will feature a Jersey Shore Boardwalk theme, with Boardwalk-style food, games, caricature artists, and raffle prizes. Broadway musical star and television actor Ben Vereen will perform with his band, The Platinum Band, as well as comedian Jeff Norris, a New Jersey native. Additional entertainers with Garden State ties may also turn up.
The cost per ticket is $50, whether purchased in advance online (by noon today) or at the door; 100% of all proceeds made tonight will go to help disabled victims of Hurricane Sandy. The Kessler Foundation is a West Orange-based public charity dedicated to improving quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Allison Sargent Events, a 20-year old Montclair special events firm, is managing this evening’s fundraiser.
