Are you a self-starting bike lover interested in leading and growing a nonprofit organization? Bike&Walk Montclair wants you! The organization was recently awarded a $25,000 grant from Partners for Health which has allowed them to expand their growth and opening up a position for an Executive Director.

Bike&Walk Montclair was formed in 2002 to help make Montclair a healthy, sustainable community by making bicycling and walking safer, more convenient and more enjoyable. In its  first decade, it sponsored ten popular Tour de Montclair community bike rides, helped to pass NJ’s first township Complete Streets policy, received grants to establish and lead township Safe Routes to School programs, recruited members, and were awarded a $25,000 grant from Partners for Health to expand its education and advocacy efforts.

The Executive Director, reporting to the Board of Directors, will spearhead the second decade of growth and organization building, adding staff and programs as funding allows:

Specific duties include:

•   Fundraising and development via membership programs, and by harvesting major donors, sponsors, and grants – as well as exploring new funding venues

•   Implementing our grant-funded programs, including bicycle education, a bike repair/swap program, and a bike/walk-friendly business campaign; providing leadership for the Board’s Action Plan

•   Expanding and managing volunteers working on all aspects of our organization’s initiatives

•   Establishing and leveraging relationships with local, regional, and state legislative and government representatives and with partner organizations

•   Developing community awareness and communications via our website, social media and press relationships

•   Meeting organizational goals jointly agreed to by the Executive Director and the Board

This position is half-time with an initial annual salary range of $25,000-$30,000, commensurate with experience.
