As New Year’s resolutions go, most are ho-hum and predictable, but the Baristas perked up when we saw the resolution round-up from chefs singled out by Zagat’s, which features Francesco Palmieri, of The Orange Squirrel in Bloomfield.

We are gearing up for our fifth year of business and my personal New Year’s resolution is to elevate New Jersey’s dining scene by keeping our restaurant edgy, funky, fresh and lively, while providing superior food as well as outstanding beverages. The Orange Squirrel’s resolution is to achieve higher recognition as a premier restaurant while keeping a humble attitude.

The recognition is nothing new for Palmieri, and it’s nice to know his 2013 aspirations include more Jersey-centric goals both in and out of the kitchen.

This place is absolutely worth the trip and our patronage. WORTH IT!! I just had the duck confit. I all but wept at how good it was. Anything and everything I’ve eaten here has been innovative, interesting and flat out great.

I'm struck by how much attention is being paid to the details of a parking lot, as opposed to the attention paid to the future impact of the monstrous projects being planned.
