Tonight have a laugh at Luna Stage‘s Stand Up Comedy Night. Alternately hosted by new comedy circuit favorites, Monroe Martin III (Broadway Comedy Club), and Gordon Baker-Bone (NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity),  Luna Stage’s Stand-Up Comedy Night is part of a monthly series featuring stand-up comedy from the tri-state area’s up-and-coming comics seen on MTV, NBC, Comedy Central, and in comedy clubs across the country. Go enjoy an evening of humorous fun for the mature audience.

Friday night in Maplewood offers the Rent Party. It’s a monthly party, founded in 2009 in conjunction with the South Orange Elks, to benefit food pantries and fight hunger in SOMA. Every dollar that you donate is matched by the HK Project of Maplewood and South Orange and all the dough that they raise helps fight hunger in the community. Good music, good cause. This month features a great line up: Mood Ring, Five Cent Philosophers, and Miss Ohio.

Enjoy an evening of Neil Simon comedy with Studio Players performance of Rumors this weekend. Neil Simon’s comic concoction takes you to a dinner party at the home of Charlie and Myra Brock to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, but “Charlie (the Deputy Mayor of NY) is lying upstairs with a bullet hole in his ear lobe, and Myra is nowhere to be seen. You’ll be pitched headlong into hilarity when confusions mount as the friends try frantically to protect their hosts and themselves, by hiding the evening’s events from the outside world. (Warning: strong language)”

On Sunday, fans of This American Life are in for a treat when Ira Glass and team go to Columbia High School in Maplewood to give a behind-the-scenes look at the radio show. This American Life has been on the air since 1995 and is heard on more than 500 public radio stations each week by over 1.8 million listeners.
