Many of the 72 or so properties showing on Sunday are new to the market. This weekend, offerings range from a four-room Condo with a new kitchen priced at $109,000 (134-A Boyden Ave., Maplewood, open 1 to 4 p.m.) to a 13-room Colonial in Millburn with over 6,000-square-feet of living space and a $2,695,000 price tag (22 Cayuga Way, Millburn, open 1 to 4 p.m.).

This six-room Townhouse, an end unit, is located on a cul-de-sac. The 1,309-square-foot unit is architecturally interesting, incorporating brick, steel and cement along with exposed beams and high ceilings. Renovated in 2005, the unit also has a gas fireplace, central air and a patio. There is assigned parking for two cars. Open 2 to 4 p.m.

Built in 1925, this 12-room Colonial has recently undergone construction; “the kitchen extension and family room addition are framed out and ready for interior finishing.” Central air, an underground sprinkler system and a patio are among the other amenities. There is a finished basement and third floor and a two-car detached garage. Open 1 to 4 p.m.

Completely overhauled in 2011, this 10-room Colonial has a kitchen with a large center island; hardwood floors; central air; a finished, full basement; and a two-car attached garage. Outside, there is a fenced-in backyard with a paver patio and pergola. The house was built in 1976. Open 2 to 4 p.m.

southorange0224376 Montrose Ave., South Orange

This new-to-the-market 13-room Victorian has classic period attributes, including a wraparound porch, multiple staircases, leaded glass windows and flooring with ribbon inlay. Central air is among the more modern features. Also, there is an updated kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a walk-in closet in the master bedroom and a mud room, a relatively new addition. There is a partially-finished, full, walkout basement and a two-car detached garage with loft storage. The house was built in 1911 and renovated in 2007. Open 2 to 4 p.m.

Every Saturday the very first thing I click on is the open houses. When I click on a listing that let’s me look at the photos, I spend a lot of time studying the listing and comparing features. When I come across a listing that says “you have to register here and/or be a member to look at the photos” I:
    a.) feel angry
b.) immediately switch to another listing
c.) associate said realtor/company with said bad feeling (see item A.)
Maybe this is a successful and much loved technique that garners millions a year in sales for realtors but I simply resent it and walk away.

"Even the New York Times noticed how many women from Montclair were marching (but somehow ended up focusing instead on how the men folk would manage??)" Yes, totally! Very bizarre.
