Montclair Grieves for Two Young Lives LostBaristanet was very saddened to learn of the deaths of two 2007 Montclair High School graduates.

Ella Kottick Bandes, 23, died on Monday, Feb. 4, in Kings County Hospital after she was struck by a bus in New York City.

According to the Montclair Times, Ella graduated college in 2011 and was completing an internship at the Columbia Psychiatric Institute. She was working at the Weight Watchers corporate office and hoped one day to provide mental health service to underserved populations.

A memorial for Ella will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 3pm at the First Congregational Church in Montclair.

Justin Grant, 24, died suddenly on January 27, just two weeks shy of his 25th birthday. Grant was a former men’s soccer student-athlete at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, and played soccer for four years at Montclair High.

An eight-game starter for the Gothic Knights in 2009, he posted a 5-5-1 record while studying Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management. In his obituary in the Star-Ledger, he was described as being known for his “warm spirit, charming nature, his jokes, and most of all, his fondness of sports.”
