Outside Nishuane School during pickup.

Montclair Schools had a regular day today, despite every other area school’s decision to call an early dismissal day. Montclair don’t play!

Kids got a full day of school in, which is great, but buses are late, roads aren’t plowed and we’re getting messages from parents who picked up their kids telling us that the roads are dangerous.

Tell us how your kids’ commute home was.

I picked up early, before it got bad. There were other parents there doing the same.

What a mess ! This storm was predicated and pretty much did exactly what the forecasters said last night. It was unsafe for the kids, the parents and all school workers. Busses were very late, staff was slim because some left early and roads were a complete mess. After picking my kid up from school I proceeded up Bloomfield ave which was a packed sheet of ice at 3:45. Your telling me this town couldn’t keep up with this storm thoughout the day while they knew school was in session? 15 years of living in this town and its always the same story. You can tell when your leaving the town because THAT is where the roads are passable 🙁

The Glen Ridge schools had an early dismissal (12:30pm) on fri. Staff & students all got home safely before the worst of the storm. Thank goodness for common sense.
PAZ back from Phoenix on Thurs. nite. on the last flight out of that town.

Left work at 3:30 (Park Street)and found both Park Street and Bloomfield Ave in terrible condition. By the time I finally entered Verona, the Ave had at least been plowed previously. Arriving in West Orange, via Lakeside Ave/Pleasant Valley Way, the main road was well plowed and in pretty safe condition. Couldn’t believe a town like Montclair with schools in session for a full day would leave the roads, especially main routes, so untreated and dangerous…very irresponsible and not acceptable!

I'm struck by how much attention is being paid to the details of a parking lot, as opposed to the attention paid to the future impact of the monstrous projects being planned.
