Marty Balin, a co-founder and featured vocalist for both the 1960’s supergroup Jefferson Airplane and the 1970’s chart topper Jefferson Starship, will perform this Friday night at Outpost in The Burbs and we have two tickets to give away to one lucky reader.
Marty Balin’s illustrious career has spanned decades. Marty wrote countless hits for both bands; “It’s No Secret”, “Plastic Fantastic Lover,” and the iconi rock anthem “Volunteers” for Airplane and “Count On Me,” “Runaway” and the mega hit “Miracles” for the Starship. His distinctive voice and musical style helped both bands to earn a place in rock history. Marty released his first solo album in the 1990’s, producing the Top 40 Hits “Hearts” and “Atlanta Woman.”

Balin will be joined by special guest Jesse Terry, a nationally touring, award-winning singer-songwriter and “road warrior.” His music has been compared to the likes of Ryan Adams, Jackson Browne, Paul Simon and James Taylor. He just returned from the International Folk Alliance in Toronto and now makes his home in Nashville.

He must be a happy man that he left Starship before they released “We Built This City (On Rock n’ Roll)”

Well, “Today” conjures up a patchouli-redolent image of hippie-style “love” pretty well.
Great occassion for Bill to break out the tie dyed shirt, bandana, and sandals.
White Rabbit.
Crazy Miranda is a very distant second.
“Comin Back to me” – its a beautiful, haunting song on the Surrealistic Pillow Album. He wrote it and everytime I hear it, it gives me chills.
I have so many but I’ll pick “Lather.”
Good Shepherd
“It’s No Secret”.
