  1. I wish I could attend this too! In fact, Frank when are you going to just sit down and write a book already!

ps. I also would like to know where that Hotel was located. If I had to guess it looks almost like the Claridge condo site up above the Kings in Verona.

  2. How interesting to get this glimpse of Montclair back when it was a hierarchical, snooty, status-obsessed place, as opposed to what it is now.

  3. It seems this is tomorrow night, not tonight. The first paragraph says “tonight, May 23 at 7 pm” but today is May 22nd, and the library website says May 23rd.

  4. Sorry, that was my mistake. I could have sworn today was Thursday. The heat is making me crazy.

It’s corrected. The event is Thursday, May 23.

  5. Sort of cruelly interesting that this item about Montclair’s (once, surely not future) days of “fine resorts, gentlemen’s farms and boarding schools” precedes one which tells us the piece used in the Canterbury Park tragedy was indeed stolen.

  6. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and interest! im looking forward to doing the presentation! Hotel Montclair was demolished to build the Rockcliffe Apartments at 10 Crestmont Road. The site was a cliff called Flatrock, a tourist destination like Eagle Rock. Flatrock is behind the Dorchester Apartments at the top of Claremont Avenue. Hope to see you all tonight!
