The Montclair Health Department is offering microchipping services for your cat or dog at the Wednesday, May 15 rabies clinic. The clinic will be held at the Harrison Avenue Fire House, 151 Harrison Avenue, from 6:00-6:45 p.m. for dogs and 6:45-7:30 p.m. for cats. The cost for the microchip is $15 and owners must show a current rabies certificate for their pet to receive the implant. The rabies clinic is free of charge.
Once the microchip is implanted owners will receive instructions to register their pets for $11 – this is the discounted registration price for going through the Township’s clinic.
Microchipping your pet is one of the best ways to ensure that if your is pet lost, he/she is returned home safely to you. Microchips are a fail-safe in the event that a regular collar or tag is lost or removed. One of the biggest reasons animals in shelters are not reunited with their owners is lack of identification.
This is the first time the Health Department is offering the microchipping service at a township rabies clinic.
