Another beloved Montclair store is closing. O Soleil will shutter its doors on July 30, or as soon as everything inside is gone.
Owner Isabelle Lesniak said that after 12 years of running the store, which sold specialty items from France and Europe, “it’s time to begin a new adventure.”
Lesniak, who is French, moved to the United States when she met her American husband at her brother’s wedding. They raised their two children in Montclair.
“It was really nice to open the store here,” she said. “I have a very good clientele, people coming in every day saying how sad they are that the store is closing. One customer said she cried for two days when she heard the store was closing. They feel very comfortable here. I help them. I don’t push.”
Lesniak says that though some people expressed interest in buying the store, nothing has so far worked out. As for her next move, she said she may start a travel business focusing on trips to France. “My roots are pulling me back to Lyon,” she said of her hometown.
O Soleil will continue to operate its website, but will only sell jewelry and accessories. Until the store closes, everything is on sale for 25 percent or more off. Lesniak says she will also participate in pop-up stores in December and on Mother’s Day.
Lesniak says she will miss her customers. “People in Montclair are so nice,” she said. “Thanks so much to everyone who helped me in my business.”
