Montclair Police Arrest Alleged Mission Street Shooter

Montclair Police have arrested 21 year old Rasheed Riley of Montclair in connection with a June 1 shooting on Mission Street in Montclair. Riley is the brother of Jaylen Riley, the victim of the Greenwood Avenue shooting, who was shot three times on May 31 by near the Union Gardens Apartments.

On June 1, MPD responding to a call of shots fired on Mission Street at 11:28 pm and found a 25-year-old Montclair man with a gun shot wound to his leg. The victim was taken to Mountainside and later released. Several shell casings were recovered.

Lieutenant Angel Roman told Baristanet that Riley is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful use of a firearm.  As of this reporting, Riley is being held on $100,000 bail at the Montclair Police Department. Police have not yet determined whether the two shootings are related.

Last August, Riley was arrested for aggravated assault.
