Montclair Schools Summer Reading List

Summer Reading ListWe can’t say it too much—reading throughout the summer is very important!

Your local library offers free summer reading programs, your local bookstore offers Great Summer Books For All Ages, Read, Kiddo, Read offers the Ultimate Summer Reading List and now Montclair Public Schools offer a summer reading list:

Families play an essential role in encouraging our children to read. Our updated Summer Booklist provides suggestions, chosen from thousands of good books, as starting places for your child’s summer explorations.

We hope this list will help you enjoy books together and reading will be a regular part of your summer. Our goal is to make your child’s summer reading a pleasant experience.
Many of the authors’ names are starred, recognizing that they have written many books children will enjoy.

One of the best ways to keep children reading is to find a series or genre they like; non-fiction books interest may readers who would not willingly read a novel.

The list is divided into three interest levels for children entering grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. However, children are different and you do not need to confine your child to those levels. You may enjoy reading aloud appropriate books from a more advanced list.

See the district’s great Summer Reading List 2013 here, which includes an awesome summer reading log.
