Montclair Police Investigating Hit and Run on Mission Street

Montclair Police are investigating a hit and run that occurred early this morning on Mission Street.

According to D/Lt. Angel L. Roman Jr., Detective Bureau Commander, a black SUV traveling at a high rate of speed down Mission Street at 12:46 a.m. struck an 18-year-old male victim.

The man, a Montclair resident, who was found bleeding from the face but conscious, was taken to Mountainside Hospital. The victim has a jaw injury; Roman says he is stable now but may need surgery possibly this afternoon.

  1. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s not the safest neighborhood in town.

  2. I hope the injured person is OK.

That’s a pretty short street to be traveling at a high rate of speed. I wonder if there are video cameras in the area that could be used to identify the vehicle?

  3. Nothing to see here folks, move along. There is nothing wrong with this neighborhood. It is simply a busy street in need of multiple cross walks and perhaps a few traffic lights. Were they in place, the operator would have seen this young fella trying to cross the street and would have yielded.
