Today Is Last Day To Apply (By Mail) For Mail-In Ballot: Special Primary Election

From the Township of Montclair:

In New Jersey, any voter can now vote by mail. You do not need a reason to vote by mail. Download the Vote by Mail application on the Essex County Clerk’s website: www.essexclerk.com/election_absentee.html.

Forms are also available at the Municipal Clerk’s office.

Below are important deadlines for those who wish to submit a Vote by Mail ballot in the August 13 special primary election:

• Tuesday, August 6 — Deadline to apply by mail for a mail-in ballot for the special primary election.

• Monday, August 12, 3:00 p.m. — Deadline to apply in-person at the Essex County Clerk’s office for a mail-in ballot application.

Any U. S. citizen who is 18 years of age on or before August 13, the date of the primary election, may register to vote provided he/she is not serving a sentence, or is on probation or parole because of a felony conviction.

Next month’s special primary election precedes a special October 16 election to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant following the death of Senator Frank Lautenberg.
