Baristanet Profile: Joshua Crandall

Joshua_CrandallWhere do you live? Watchung Avenue in Montclair, near the plaza.

When did you move there? A few years ago. Montclair since 1997.

Where did you grow up? Long Island.

How do you make a living? I run

Coffee, tea or … ? Black, decaf (my daughters simply cannot comprehend how I could actually like that).

What’s your idea of a perfect Saturday? It starts with Athletic Conditioning class at the Park Street Y. Then I bring home fresh bagels and it’s breakfast with my kids: bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwiches If I’m lucky, my kids’ sporting events are at Watchung Field so I can walk over to see them. Then…wherever the day takes me…but often to the Brookdale dog park with Kassi the wonder dog.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? A tough question in Montclair…since there are so many amazing options. But I always love my meals at Brick Lane Curry House.

What’s on your nightstand? Remote controls. What ARE all they for? 🙂

Your iPod? Hah – Never owned one…but I love having streaming the world via Rhapsody on my Android.

What are your current addictions? Breaking Bad. No spoilers please…I’m still in season 2.

Talent you would most like to have: Playing the trumpet. Every 10 years, I re-start at the beginner level. One of these decades…

What’s the worst-kept secret about Montclair? Clever Commute 🙂 . Well…that’s not entirely true: it seems that a lot of the daily bus/train riders use it. However, there is lots of room to grow, so I’m feeling great about the future.

What is your life philosophy? May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be for your own greatest good.
