WINNER: Congratulations to michele!
September brings back to school, autumn leaves, cooler days and great new family music! Four new CDs releasing this month will be great additions to your family’s collection:
1) Heidi Swedberg – My Cup of Tea
Over the past few years, Heidi Swedberg, perhaps best known as the actress who played Susan on “Seinfeld,” has built a national reputation for her retro ukulele-inflected, highly interactive approach to family music-making. Drawing from “a crazy diverse bunch of songs” that she loves to perform onstage and with her music classes, My Cup of Tea swings from classic family fare like “The Owl and the Pussycat” and “Comin’ Round the Mountain” and a Latin lullaby, “Duermeté;” to the Civil War song “Johnny Martin;” and a Haitian Creole tune, “Wi Wa.”
2) Mr. Palindrome – Smiley Face Sticker
Australian singer, songwriter, and Dad, Mr. Palindrome, aka Natan Kuchar, releases his first album of super catchy and silly songs called Smiley Face Sticker. But hsi songs ate not just silly, Mr. Palindrome wants to help kids get comfortable with words—really, really big words. Along with some starting-point palindromes, Mr. Palindrome introduces concepts like “alliteration,” “anagrams” and “onomatopoeia.” Sing along and learn how to sing the “Backwards Alphabet,” and a whole gaggle of “Tongue Twisters.”
3) Lloyd Miller – S.S. Brooklyn
Lloyd H.Miller, aka Ulysses S. Dee of the Brooklyn-based family band The Deedle Deedle Dees, which has won national awards and acclaim for a distinctive brand of all-ages historical rock music, releases his first solo album of sing-a-long songs on September 24. Five or six times a week, hundreds of people sing along with Miller in various spaces in Brooklyn, and he takes those sing-a-longs on his new album. S.S. Brooklyn features some of the most requested songs. Check out three of the songs on the 15 track album here.
4) Trout Fishing in America – Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers
The Grammy nominated, nationally touring act Trout Fishing in America is back with their wittiest collection of original story-songs yet. Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers features tongue twisters, mind-benders, spooky situations and instantly identifiable slices of a kid’s life.

They all sound great, but I think Trout Fishing in America’s Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers will appeal most to my both my baby and my son.
I think the kids would love Mr.Palindrome!
As a huge Seinfeld fan I’m looking forward to Heidi Swedberg. But the kids will probably love Trout Fishing.
