The Oratorio Society of New Jersey, under the direction of Dr. Sándor Szabó, will present two concerts during the 2013-2014 season. The fall concert, November 16, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church, Montclair, NJ, will feature Mendelssohn’s Elijah. The spring concert will be on April 5 at the same location. On December 3, 2013 the annual free Messiah Sing will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Upper Montclair.
Rehearsals for the fall concert will begin on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 7:30 pm at the First Lutheran Church, 153 Park Street, Montclair. The Oratorio Society of New Jersey welcomes new members with choral singing experience (especially sopranos and male voices), as well as returning singers. No audition is necessary. Yearly dues are $50. Rehearsals continue on Tuesday evenings from 8 to 10 pm at the First Lutheran Church.
Founded more than 60 years ago to promote the performance of vocal masterworks, The Oratorio Society of New Jersey is an accomplished volunteer community chorus of approximately 60 members from all over Northern New Jersey who are brought together by their love of music.
