Gallery Loupe is inviting area residents to a free, special event this Saturday afternoon in support of The Mathilda Fund, which supports research into ovarian cancer.

Portland, Oregon-based artists Meg Drinkwater and Erin Gardner of The Opulent Project (T.O.P.) have generously donated their time and talent to designing a limited-edition commemorative brooch, available at the event for $195. All proceeds from sales will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund through The Mathilda Fund.

“The event is sort of an open house for people to come in to visit Gallery Loupe, and purchase the pin, as well as to see other great work by Meg and Erin,” says Gallery Loupe co-owner, Patti Bleicher.

The two young artists who comprise T.O.P. “investigate opulence within the context of society’s obsession with material possessions,” according to their website, and they do so in an inventive, Escher-esque manner.

Guests at the event will also have the opportunity to meet Jane Rubin, founder of Mathilda Fund and author of Almost a Princess: My Life as a Two-Time Cancer Survivor.

Where: Gallery Loupe for Contemporary Art Jewelry, 50 Church Street, Montclair
