Beautiful Day For a NYC Marathon

Some 50,000 runners, watched by two million spectators amidst tightened security measures, ran the NYC Marathon yesterday, a year after it was canceled in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy. Geoffrey Mutai, of Kenya, ran away from the pack and won his second consecutive NYC Marathon, but locally, we were cheering for Montclair orthodontist Dr. Edward Gold, who raised $7,280 for Montclair Public Library (exceeding his goal of $6200). Gold ran the 26.2 mile race in 3:43.

Gold wasn’t the only Ed from Montclair running. Ed Carine, who 4:28 time, ran to support Little Kids Rock and reached the fundraising goal of $2,500, with help from wife Margie and Parents Who Rock’s Alma Schneider.

  1. CONGRATS to all the local runners!!

I’m still sore from spending 2hrs. 30 mins watching it on TV. Exhausting!!

As a runner, even those crossing the light at night are inspiring!!

  2. We are so proud of the wonderful Ed Carine!!! Side note: Parents Who Rock performers helped Ed reach is fundraising goal of $2,500, not just me :-). We LOVE YOU, ED!!!
