Giblin was born and raised in Montclair, graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and was a US Army veteran. He served his hometown as a policeman for 41 years.
The Montclair Township has issued a statement offering its condolences:
While we mourn, we cannot help but marvel at and take comfort in the storybook life that the Chief led: married to his sweetheart Joan Audrey for sixty years, large loving family, honored veteran, leader of his home church (Immaculate Conception), lifetime commitment to public service, and universal respect as a man and a gentleman in his hometown and, in fact, wherever he traveled.
Montclair will not likely see a man like the Chief again. We thank God that it was our privilege to know, honor, and love him for so many years.
The funeral will be conducted from the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair, NJ on Friday, November 8 at 9:00 a.m., thence to Immaculate Conception Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visiting will be on Thursday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Baristanet offers its heartfelt condolences to the Giblin family and loved ones.
