Cyclists Tough It Out For Turkey Ride

The Montclair Bikery held its first annual “Turkey Ride” yesterday, offering area cyclists a challenging 15-mile ride with a charitable twist. The course, which wove through Brookdale Park, included a stop at the Bloomfield’s Brookdale Shoprite where riders could purchase a turkey and donate it to the Human Needs Pantry.

The most challenging part of the ride — bringing the turkey back to the pantry in Montclair. Despite arctic-like temperatures, the cyclists persevered and by 11 a.m., more than 60 riders had purchased over 100 frozen turkeys to benefit the HNP. That’s over 100 Thanksgivings dinners for some of our neighbors in need.

Montclair Bikery deserves a big round of applause for running this event. The HNP so needed those turkeys. Please do it again next year.

I was assigned to chimney security today at middle school in the State of Washington, to prevent Betsy DeVoss from trying to climb in that way when she couldn't get in the front door. Protesters abounded below while I rode shotgun on the roof. We're with Montclair all the way. Glad you're here MontClairVoyant!
