When it comes to Thanksgiving pie, there are those who bake, and those who buy. If you’re looking to seriously up your pie-making skills, register now to attend a free workshop at Montclair’s Williams-Sonoma this weekend. The class will cover how to create foolproof crusts and yummy, seasonal fillings.
The store is also offering free cooking lessons for kids, ages 5-14. These classes will be especially appealing to children, like my daughter, who are fans of MasterChef Junior. It’s the new TV show where Chef Gordon Ramsey shows his playful, softer side. (Though it doesn’t stop him from chiding one wee contestant: “That looks like a dog’s dinner. Are you ready to lose?”)
Home cooks are also invited to stop by Williams-Sonoma on November 23rd for “A Taste of Thanksgiving,” where they’ll learn helpful holiday cooking shortcuts, and sample brined turkey, stuffing blends, cranberry relish, and more.
“This store is all about community outreach,” says Anna Munetsi, assistant manager at Williams-Sonoma. “We’ve helped a lot of parents with cooking classes, and now we’re extending the lessons to their children.”
