Here’s this week’s crime report provided by Detective Lieutenant Angel L. Roman Jr., Detective Bureau Commander, Montclair Police Department:
Burglary’s:
On 12/30/2013 at approx 1105 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 10 block of Montclair Avenue on the report of a burglary that had occurred. Upon arrival Officers met and interviewed the victim. The victim stated that approx one hour in the past a neighbor observed a white male removing items from the victims garage. The victim reported that five garbage cans filled with cooper and brass were taken. The victim valued the scrap metal at $1000.00 dollars. On 12/30/2013 at approx 1209 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 10 block of Wellesley Road on the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival Officers surrounded the house and checked the interior for suspects. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the residence. The homeowner stated that when she arrived home she observed a backpack on the rear deck that did not belong to her family so she exited the house and phoned the Police. On 12/30/2013 at approx 1324 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 60 block of Bellevue Avenue on the report of an attempted burglary. Upon arrival Officers met and interviewed the homeowner. The homeowner stated at approx 1245 hours, he returned home to find a white male walking out from behind his house. The subject approached the homeowner and asked him if he needed help with snow removal this winter. The homeowner advised the subject he did not and the subject walked off. Upon entering his home the homeowner observed fresh pry marks on his front door. The suspect was described as a, White male, 35-45 years of age, 5’10 to 6’0 in height, wearing a black puffy jacket and a dark wool knit hat. Thefts:
On 12/26/2013 at 1741 hours, Officers were dispatched to 50 Pine Street on the report of a theft that had occurred. Upon arrival Officers met and interviewed the victim. The victim stated that approx 30 minutes in the past someone entered his work truck and stole a black tool bag, containing miscellaneous tools along with a Garmin GPS unit. On 12/26/2013 at 1656 hours, Officers were dispatched to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Pathmark), on the report of a shoplifting that occurred approx 5 minutes in the past. Upon arrival Officers met and spoke to a store employee who observed the theft. The employee described the actor as a black male, 6’0″ tall, 180 lbs, between 20-25 years of age. Arrests:
On 12/27/2013 at 1939 hours, Officers were dispatched to the 70 block of Pleasant Valley Way on the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival Officers observed a Black Toyota Camery parked in the area. The vehicle was running and occupied by three adult females and an infant. Upon further investigation Officers detected the use of Marijuana in the presence of the infant. The following adult females were arrest at the scene;
1. Nadia Ramsammy, a 33 year old female from East Orange. Ms. Ramsammy was charged with Endangering the welfare of a child and possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Judge Strait set bail at $45,000 cash.
2. Amanda Ramsammy, a 18 year old female from East Orange. Ms. Ramsammy was charged with Endangering the welfare of a child, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge Strait set bail at $25,000 with a 10% option.
3. Zeba Sroya, a 19 year old female from East Orange. Ms. Sroya was charged with Endangering the welfare of a child, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge Strait set bail at $25,000 with a 10% option.
The infant was transported to headquarters and later turned over to a family member. The matter is also being investigated by DYFS.
On 12/28/2013 at 0043 hours, Khalil Gordon, a 28 year old male from Montclair was arrested during a motor vehicle stop for outstanding warrants. Mr. Gordon had two warrants for his arrest, one out of the City of Newark in the amount of $5000.00 (10% option) and one Montclair warrant in the amount of $350.00. While Officers were taking Mr. Gordon into custody they located a small amount of marijuana on him. Mr. Gordon was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Judge Strait set bail on the new charge at $2500.00 with a 10% option.
