Montclair Hosts Winter FestivalYesterday, Montclair Center hosted the 2014 Big Game Winter Festival with live music, food vendors, kid’s activities and plenty more.

The warmth and glow of the three Norwegian Candles on South Park Street provided a great setting for the enjoyment of food and beverages from the nearby vendors. In contrast, on Church Street, an ice sculptor demonstrated his skills with football themed frozen works of art.

Entertainment on the Montclair Center Stage began with a performance by The Opera Theater of Montclair, and was followed by the vibrant Justina Valentine & The Love Haterz. Magician Joe Fischer wowed the crowd at the Clairidge Theater Lobby,

There were many family fun activities to fill the afternoon including a football-themed video game truck, yoga demonstrations, a bouncy-bounce, sandart, spinart, and face painting.

  1. “Big game winter festival”. What a joke. Realize this website is not hard hitting journalism and really a feel good rah-rah kind of place, but any investigation why we didn’t called it a “Super Bowl” party? Uh, because when the NFL caught wind of the fact that one of their specially selected Super Bowl hospitality towns was going to throw a party for families with Super Bowl in the title they told us no can do.
And don’t get me started on the concert at the Welmont. Guess how many tickets were sold to Montclair residents? The answer would be zero as far as I know. Box office kept saying stand by for information about ticket sales and I’m still standing by.
Now back to our regularly scheduled rah-rah programming.

We just got done with the war on Christmas, and now we have the war on the Super Bowl?

Georgette: stop farting around with the BOE and go investigate the Great Super Bowl Party Sellout.

  3. Opera Theatre of Montclair had such a wonderful time performing yesterday. We had a lovely, receptive crowd, and were grateful for the mild weather. Joann Smalls, Luther Flurry, Mayor Jackson, all the volunteers and everyone else involved in organizing the event are to be commended. The sound guys were great, and we are so thankful to them since we are not used to sound equipment. A great event!

  4. Great day out with the kids. They enjoyed themselves. Thank you to all who organized and volunteered to run the event. Much appreciated! Thinking of trying the Norwegian Candle in our backyard. Had never seen anything like that!

  5. I’m certain that the downtown restaurants were delighted to have gypsy food vendors right outside their high-rent doors…. File under insult to injury.
