This week’s crime report provided by Detective Lieutenant Angel L. Roman Jr., Detective Bureau Commander, Montclair Police Department, includes an aggravated assault attack on a police officer and thefts to unlocked or secured items:

Burglaries:

On 02/09/2014 at 1218 hours, officers responded to the 20 block of Fulton Street on the report of a possible Burglary Attempt. Upon arrival Officer’s met and interviewed the owner. The owner stated that sometime between 02/07/2014 and 02/09/2014 someone had broken the first floor kitchen window. Officers also observed damage to the basement window. Thefts:

On 02/05/2014 at 1222, officers responded to the 100 block of Clinton Avenue on a motor vehicle theft. The vehicle owner informed officers that he parked his black Ford F-350 in front of on Clinton Avenue at 1205 hours and left the vehicle unlocked and the keys inside. The vehicle was not running.  The owner (landscaper) was in the area shoveling snow in a rear yard.  When he returned to the vehicle at approx 1217 hours the truck was gone.

On 02/05/2014 at 1637 hours, officers took a walk in theft report. The victim stated that he had $170 dollars stolen from his wallet while he worked out at the NY Sports club on So. Park Street. The wallet was left in an unlocked locker.  The theft occurred the afternoon of 02/04. He was not sure initially if he had lost the money but today realized he was also missing a Visa Chase credit card.  Chase notified him this date that his card was used at a target store for purchases totaling $1,069.98. Arrests:

On 02/03/2014 at 2358 hours, officers on patrol in the area of Pine Street observed 21 yr old Tyree Barber, known to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of Glenridge, walking north on Pine Street. Officers stopped him in the area of 100 Pine Street and confirmed the warrant through dispatch.  He was taken into custody without incident. Glenridge PD responded to the scene and took custody of Mr. Barber.

On 02/06/2014 at 2316 hours, Officers were dispatched to the area of the Wellmont Theater to assist with several disorderly individuals. While attempting to disperse these subjects, one individual later identified as Mr. Domenico Bellia, a 21year old Montclair resident, struck an Officer in the face with a closed fist. Mr. Bellia was placed under arrest and charged with: Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.

Vandalism/Damage:

On 02/06/2014 at 0800 hours, officers took a walk in report of damage to a motor vehicle.  The vehicle owner informed officers that he parked his 2008 gray Toyota Camry on in the parking lot of 8 Bell Street on 02/05.  When he returned to the car this morning at approximately 0700 hours, he found the vehicles rear bumper, trunk, and spoiler scraped up, by what he believed was a plow.  He is awaiting surveillance video.
