Take the family out for pizza at Mr. Dino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Montclair, next Wednesday, March 26, and 15% of the sales will go to the KinderSmile Foundation, which provides free dental services to low-income children in New Jersey.

Pat Loconsole, Manager and son of owner of Mr. Dino’s worked with Amya Dumay, age 15, of Montclair to organize a Pizza and Smiles Night to support the KinderSmile Foundation’s 2014 Dental Mission to Nicaragua and Peru led by Dr. Nicole McGrath, DDS.

“We decided to help because we believe every kid should have a smile on their face, and the first step to that is getting them the right dental help. We love to give back and when Amya contacted me we were very excited to get involved.” said Loconsole. He added, “Amya was very responsive and really worked with us to make this happen.”

Amya Dumay is a Jr. Board member of the KinderSmile Foundation and will experience traveling abroad for the first time this year. She’s working on multiple ways to raise money for their cause including setting up a donation web page. Dumay reached out to Mr. Dino’s and says “I contacted Pat at Mr. Dino’s for help; he was willing and even created a lunch special!”

Each KinderSmile Jr. Board member is very involved in the foundation from conception to completion of every project which includes planning the annual outreach trips. The Jr. Board consists of college and high school student volunteers. They decide where they will go, research the cost, connect with the orphanages and raise the necessary funds for the trip individually and as a group. When the Jr. Board members arrive at the orphanages, they set up registration, donate their gently used clothing, teach the children English and some Jr. Board members assist the dentists with dental care.

Amya says, “I enjoy the work that I accomplish with KinderSmile. We really execute a considerable amount of planning for the organization. I help children that cannot afford a very important service that I can get without a problem. It’s a big bonus that I also get to learn valuable business skills and have the opportunity to gain knowledge about the field of dentistry in the process.”
