Montclair Crime: Several Arrests, Burglaries and Thefts.

ARRESTS

On 3/25/2014, at 09:12 am., Officers responded to the corner of Lackawanna Plaza and Bloomfield Avenue on report of a verbal disturbance between several parties. Upon arrival of Officers, they met with the callers who are a Montclair couple who explained that the third person involved in this incident, Marrell Sutton, a 29 year old Montclair man, had been following the complaining female caller throughout the Township for the past several months.  Officers conducted an investigation and discovered that Sutton had an outstanding warrant out of Montclair for a prior incident where he was charged with Criminal Mischief for kicking and breaking a door on a local business. That incident occurred 02/16/2013. Sutton was placed under arrest and the allegations of following the complaining caller are being investigated.

On 3/25/2014, at approx 02:00 pm, Officers responded to Belleville Police Dept. to arrest Robert T. Frucci, a 26 Belleville man, on outstanding warrants out of Montclair for a 2012 narcotics offense.  Frucci was in custody of Belleville PD. Frucci was placed under arrest and transported to Montclair where he will be housed pending Court.

On 3/25/2014, at 07:29 pm Officers placed Abraham D Muralles, a 43 year old Plainfield man, into custody as he appeared before Montclair Municipal Court to answer a summons issued to him for Driving While Suspended.  As a result of that appearance, Muralles was sentenced to 10 days in the county jail.  During processing Muralles was found to have outstanding warrants out of Boundbrook, Dunnellen and Hillborough Courts.

On 03/27/2014, at approx 05:20 pm, Officers observed Joseph Foglio, a 33 year old Livingston man,  picking up trash and throwing it on the side walk in the area of North Willow Street and Claremont Avenue.  He was stopped by Officers and a field investigation was conducted.  As a result, Mr. Foglio was issued a summons for littering and released.

On 03/27/2014, at approx 08:15 pm, Officers responded to a Mission Street property, a second floor apartment, on report of individuals trespassing as the apartment is supposed to be vacant.  Upon arrival of Officers, the owner/ landlord was present and stated that parties were “hanging out on the second floor” and he wanted them removed.  Officers found three parties on the premises.  One of the three, Tyree Barba, a 21 year old Montclair man, was found to have outstanding warrants out of Irvington and Newark.  Barba was placed under arrest and was later picked up by Irvington on that warrant.  The other two parties were released at the scene.

On 03/29/2014, at approx 11pm, Ivonne Cammano, an 18 year old Fiskill NY woman, was arrested after acting belligerently and assaulting a security officer at the Wellmont Theatre.  Officers responded to assist the female security officer who was escorting Cammano out of the theatre and she continued to act out resisting Officers.  It was determined that she was intoxicated as well.  While hand-cuffing Cammano, she kicked an Officer.  Cammano was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverage.

 

BURGLARY

On 3/25/2014, approx. 04:52 pm, Officers responded to a residence on Elm Street in Montclair on report of a burglary.  Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the homeowner who reported that the home was left unoccupied at approx 2pm.  At 04:40 pm, the resident arrived to find the home had been entered.  Missing from the residence was a MacBook computer, and a black and white Under Armour back pack.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Montclair Police Detective Bureau, Det. On 3/28/2014, at approx 08:16 pm, Officers responded to an Orange Rd residence on report of a burglary.  Upon arrival, Officers met the caller who reported seeing an open window in a first floor apartment in that residence.  Officer checked the residence and found it clear of any intruders.  It could not be determined if anything was missing at the time of this report as the homeowner could not be reached.  Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Montclair Police Detective Bureau, Det. GRAFFITI

On 03/28/2014, at 11:14 am, officers responded 50 Upper Montclair Plaza on report of graffiti found on the rear of the building.  Upon arrival of Officers, they check the rear of #50 and found graffiti painted on the rear of the building.  Officer check further check along the tracks to find several buildings with graffiti that appeared to be old.  The graffiti on the rear of #50 is said to be new, within a couple of days.  Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Montclair Police Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4733.

 

THEFT

On 03/25/2014, at approx 10:20 pm, Officers responded to an Elm Street address on report of a motor vehicle theft.  Upon arrival of Officers, they spoke with the victim who reported parking the 2001 Audi A4, 4 door, color black, in the driveway at approx 5 pm this date.  The last time the vehicle was observed by the owner was 8 pm.  At approx 10:20 pm, the owner noticed the vehicle was gone. The vehicle was immediately entered in the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) system as stolen.  As a result, Newark PD observed the vehicle parked and unoccupied on 03/28/2014 at 5 North 12th street.  The theft remains under investigation.  Anyone with information is urged to call the Montclair Police Detective Bureau, Det. On 03/25/2014, at 08:51 am, Officers responded to Verasoni Worldwide, a Park Street business, on report of a computer theft.  Upon arrival of Officers, they met the caller who reported that his 15” Macbook laptop computer was missing from his office.  The computer was valued at $2000.  He states that the computer was last seen on 03/21/2014 at the close of business.  On 03/23/2014, at approx 1pm the computer was noticed missing.  There was no sign of forced entry to the building or the office.  The building is only accessed by a cleaning crew over the weekends.  The case remains under investigation.  Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Montclair Police Detective Bureau, Det. On 03/28/2014, at approx. 12:44 pm, Officers responded to Immaculate Conception Church on North Fullerton Avenue on report of a theft.  Upon arrival, Officers met with the victim who reported that while walking to the front of the Church to receive communion, leaving her purse on the pew, her wallet was taken.  She suspects a male who was seated behind her.  She suspects this party because he was sitting there when she walk to the front of the Church and when she was walking back to her seat, she observed this party walking out of the door of the church.  It was at this time that she noticed that her wallet was missing from her purse.  The suspect is described as follows:

Black male, 30-40 years old, approx 5’06” tall, wearing a black or dark green jacket with a wool cap and dark pants.

MISCELLANEOUS

On 03/28/2014, at 09:26pm, Officers responded to 65 Glenridge Avenue Caggiano’s Liquor Store on report of a hold up alarm.  Enroute to the location, information was transmitted that approx. 10 juveniles had broken merchandise within the store and fled.  Upon arrival, Officers learned that two groups of young males were fighting in the store and fled prior to police arrival.  The owner reported that initially, a group of approx. 5 males came into the store.  Soon thereafter, another group of two to three parties came into the store.  The two groups began to argue and soon began to fight in the store.  After about 10 seconds the two groups ran out of the store. As a result of the fight approx. $150 of merchandise was damaged.  This investigation is ongoing to identify the parties involved.  Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Montclair Police Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4733.
