Weekend Highlights: Your Guide to Family Fun


There are some great family events to enjoy this holiday weekend.

Most of the events are Easter egg hunts and celebrations, but there are some other fun happenings to enjoy. The Jewish Museum hosts a Freedom Art Jam: Art and Dance Party for PassoverEarth Day celebrations begin this weekend, and it’s National Parks Week.

Another Family Art Adventure takes place at Montclair Art Museum. The hour-long, drop-in gallery program has you walk through the museum together, explore and discuss art and do fun activities. (Saturday, April 19)

Families with children with autism and others who need a more sensory-friendly environment, can enjoy Rio 2 at AMC Theaters Sensory-Friendly Films screening. (Saturday, April 19)

Support local kids by attending Brother to Brother’s Annual College Scholarship Fundraising Car Wash at Nishuane Park Parking Lot right behind the Harrison Avenue Firehouse. (Saturday, April 19)

Enjoy a fun family scavenger hunt at Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown. (Sunday, April 20)

If you’re not one of the lucky ones vacationing for spring break, and don’t need vacation camps because you’re off from work too, day trips are a great way to feel like you did something special.

  1. That’s very thoughtful to provide a venues for those on the autism spectrum or otherwise vulnerable to over-stimulation. Makes me feel like we have a community that cares.
