Alert: Man Makes Sexual Comments to Young Girl While Touching Himself in Montclair

alertAttention Montclair parents, this just in from Superintendent of Schools:

Dear Montclair Public School Families and Staff:

The Montclair School District has been informed of an incident occurring at approximately 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 5, near Hillside Elementary School, of which we wanted to make families aware.

A 14-year-old girl walking to her home was passed by a man who made a lewd sexual comment to her while touching, without exposing, himself. The incident was reported to the Montclair Police Department by the victim and her parents at approximately 6:15 pm and the police are conducting an investigation.

The police have authorized us to share with families a description of the man under investigation. The victim described him as a Hispanic male in his early to mid-forties, approximately 5’ 1” with black hair of normal length and possibly facial stubble. He appeared disheveled, was wearing a white t-shirt with black or blue lettering and white-washed jeans, and spoke with an accent.

If you have any information that can assist the police in their investigation, you should contact the Montclair Police Department at 973-744-1234 and ask for Detective Cunningham.

Thank you,
Penny MacCormack, Superintendent
