Essex Running Club Junior Track Series

The Essex Running Club held its first meet of the Junior Track Series yesterday, Sunday, June 29, at Hurrell Field in Glen Ridge. A record number of families registered their children, ages 4 – 13,  to race and it was a great event. 

What I love about the series is that is is very organized, children are split into age and gender groups, which means more heats, but less competition, and everyone is so supportive of the children competing. It’s a great lesson in competition and sportsmanship. Check out some photos from the meet below:

Essex Running Club Junior Track Meets
 Kids ages 4 – 13.

What: ERC’s first Junior Track Series is meant to introduce children to the sport of running in a low key and fun atmosphere.  The meets are to promote self-confidence, health, sportsmanship and fun!
Where: Hurrell Field, 861 Bloomfield Avenue, Glen Ridge, NJ
When: Sundays — June 29, July 13, and 27. Rain date August 3. Registration at 4 pm, Meets start at 5 pm
Cost: $5 per child per meet /$12 per child for all 3 meets if paid by June 29. Registration form here.
