On 06/11/2014 at 1319Hrs, a caller from Wheeler Street observed a male entering their neighbor’s garage and removing a lawnmower. As Montclair police units were responding, a Glen Ridge Police Officer in the area was alerted to this burglary in progress and detained a man who was observed walking away from the home in question. This suspect, a Jason Bailey, 31yoa from Montclair, was placed under arrest and charged with Burglary.

On 06/14/2014, Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Grove Street and Oxford Street. The vehicle operator, Mr. Okiean Green, 30yoa from East Orange, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Mr. Green also had open warrants out of Montclair ($250) and Orange ($1000). Mr. Green was arrested and held on these warrants.

On 06/14/2014, Officers observed a motor vehicle accident which had occurred at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and New Street. One of the vehicles involved in the collision had rolled over and the operator was trapped inside. MFD responded and extricated the sole occupant, a Deborah A. Drabick 42yoa from Merion Station PA. Ms. Drabick was transported to University Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Ms. Drabick was charged with DWI, DWI in a School Zone, and issued a summons for careless driving. No other injuries were reported.

On 06/16/2014, Officers were dispatched to a parking lot on St. Luke’s place on a report of vandalism to vehicles. Upon arriving, officers were advised by witnesses that a building resident had been observed “keying” three cars on the parking lot. Officers observed numerous deep scratches on the side of three vehicles, a Honda Element, Honda Accord, and a Mercedes Benz. Suspect Lucrecia Hodge, 48yoa from Montclair, was arrested and charged with three counts of Criminal Mischief.


On 06/14/2014 a resident on Park Street near Claremont Avenue reported that their bicycle had been stolen. The bicycle, a blue Trek mountain bike with a grey and yellow child seat attached, was taken from their garage. The garage door had been left open. On 06/13/2014 a patron attending the Barstool Blackout Concert at the Wellmont Theater reported having her cellular telephone stolen out of her pocket. The white iPhone 5 was reportedly taken by an 18-19 year old Hispanic male with medium skin tone, thin build, approximately 5’8″ tall, with dark hair, and a full beard with mustache.

On 06/16/2014, A 24 year old Montclair man was walking west on Glenridge Avenue from the Bay Street station when a black female wearing a pink shirt, whom he believed to be a juvenile, snatched his iPhone 4 cellular phone out of his hand. The victim chased the female east on Glenridge Avenue, losing sight of her on Pine Street. The phone is described as black with a gray and white hard case. On 06/08/2014 a Bloomfield Avenue resident returned to their apartment near the Verona border and observed that their fire escape ladder was in the lowered position. They then noticed that their door lock was not functioning correctly. Officers made entry to the apartment and found everything inside to be on order. It is believed that unknown persons attempted to gain access to this apartment, but were unsuccessful.

On 06/11/2014, Officers from the Montclair Police Traffic Unit observed that the Speed Sentry digital speed warning sign on the corner of Gates Avenue and Harrison Avenue had been vandalized. There was graffiti drawn on the front screen with a white paint marker. There was also graffiti on the rear of the sign in black. On 06/14/2014, two 8 year old boys was approached by an adult in the parking lot of a complex on Pine Street. This adult was holding a gray plastic box, and asked the children if they would like a gift. The boys declined and the male left the area on foot. This suspect is described as a 30 year old black male, approximately 5’11” with a crew cut, wearing Jeans and a jean jacket with a green and blue striped shirt. On 06/15/2014, MPD and MFD responded to a working fire at a residence on Central Avenue. Upon arriving they observed that the residence was engulfed in flames, with smoke pouring out of the windows. Montclair Fire Department was able to clear the house and confirmed that there were no persons inside the two-story structure. The structure suffered extensive damage both inside and out. MFD Investigators are working to determine the cause of this fire.

  1. On Friday there was a multiple arrest going on at the Bay Street train station. Not sure if it was related to the open drug dealing and use that occurs there, or the resident homeless population, but its odd that there was no mention of it in the blotter.

  2. Sadly, this sort of resentment and contempt for the personal property of others was likely brought to St Luke’s Place by Essex County’s Section 8 program.
