Photos Released of Possible Witnesses To West Orange Homicide (Updated)

Update: Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced that his department’s Crimestoppers cash reward offer in the shooting death of Brendan Tevlin has been increased to “up to $25,000”.

West Orange Police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are looking for help from the public to identify possible witnesses to the Wednesday evening homicide in West Orange. Brendan Patrick Tevlin, 19, of Livingston was found dead in his car with multiple gun shot wounds. Tevlin, who graduated last year from Seton Hall Preparatory, was a student at the University of Richmond.

Photographs of two males running in the area at the time of Wednesday night’s homicide at Walker Road and Northfield Avenue in West Orange have been released.

The males in the photograph MAY or MAY Not be witnesses to the homicide so we are seeking to identify them. Anyone that can identify these males Please call the Essex County Prosecutor’s Hotline at (877) 847-7432 1877. All calls will be kept confidential.

The photographs were obtained from a video surveillance camera.

The investigative is being conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force including the West Orange Police. If and when additional information becomes available it will be released. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432.

The Star Ledger reports that The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has placed an electronic sign in the area where Tevlin’s body was found, with the office’s 24-hour anonymous tips line — (877) 847-7432 — and a $10,000 reward for information about the killing is being offered by the Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers program.

Family and friends of Tevlin celebrated his life Friday evening at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Club in West Orange. Information about his funeral and visitation for Brendan Patrick Tevlin can be found here .
