BURGLARY

06-23-2014 – On Byrd Avenue a front door kick type burglary was reported. The incident occurred between 9:00 am and 12:15 pm. Some jewelry, a Dell laptop computer and an I-Pad 3 were taken.

06-24-2014 – At the lower end of Patton Drive an apartment was burglarized between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm. A bedroom window was found to be the point of entry and the suspect exited from the inside through the front door. A 17 inch laptop computer was taken.

06-26-2014 – On Hobson Street a front window was found to be the point of entry in a residential burglary that was reported. An X-Box game console and a gold men’s watch were taken.

06-25-2014 – On Broughton Avenue a rear door was found to be the point of entry in a reported residential burglary. An I-Pad, a computer and some cash were taken.

06-28-2014 – On the 400 block of Beardsley Avenue a rear window was found to be the point of entry of a burglary. Witnesses described 2 suspects that were seen in the area as being black males wearing white t-shirts and blue shorts.

06-29-2014 – On Floyd Avenue a suspect or suspects removed a rear window air conditioning unit to gain access to a residence and commit a burglary. A diamond ring was stolen.

BURGLARY INTO AUTO

06-25-2014 – On the lower end of Willard Avenue a 2003 Mercedes Benz was broken into and a Dell computer was stolen.

06-25-2014 – On the 100 block of N 15th Street a 2001 Acura had a window broken and a laptop computer was stolen.

06-26-2014 – On the 100 block of N 15th Street a 2010 Lincoln had a door lock damaged and a men’s wallet was taken.

06-29-2014 – On the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue a 2006 Toyota was broken into. A man’s wallet and a Samsung Galaxy phone were stolen.

06-27-2014 – On the lower end of Franklin Street a driver’s side window was broken and a Magellan GPS unit was stolen.

ROBBERY/CARJACKING

On June 25, 2014 at 11:22 am a local business on 1st Avenue was robbed at gunpoint. A clerk told investigators that the suspect, described as being a black male, 6’3” tall, heavy set, dread lock style hairdo and approximately 30years of age, walked into the store displaying a silver handgun. The clerk stated that the suspect said “ He wanted the money” and the victim turned over what cash he had on hand. The suspect was last seen running north on N 16th Street.
A search of the area proved to be negative in finding the suspect.

06-24-2014 – On the 100 block of Baldwin Street a parked vehicle had the rear window broken.

06-25-2014 – on the 100 block of Davey Street a parked 2012 Ford had both side view mirrors broken.

DWI ARRESTS

06-28-2014 – Annet David of Livingston was arrested by Officer Matthew Popowicz for DWI at 9:59 pm on Mill Street after being involved in a motor vehicle crash where her 2009 Toyota struck a utility pole.
After determining that no injuries had occurred Officer Popowicz developed reason to believe that Ms. David was operating her vehicle while impaired and placed her under arrest.
Ms. David was issued summonses for:
1- DWI and
2- Careless driving
Ms. David was released on her own recognizance and a court date of 6/30/14 was set.

06-29-2014 – Jose Dubon age 24 of Orange was arrested by Officers Luca Piscitelli and Meljunn Pascua at 1:20 am for DWI on Park Place.
While working a special DWI Enforcement detail the two Officers stopped the 1998 Toyota that Mr. Dubon was driving after allegedly witnessing a motor vehicle violation. The Officers developed reason to believe that Mr. Dubon was operating his vehicle while impaired and placed him under arrest, transported him to Police HQ’s and issued him summonses for:
1- DWI
2- DWI with-in 1000 feet of a school
3- Unlicensed driver
4- Failure to exhibit a valid insurance card and
5- Failure to signal a turn
Mr. Dubon was released on his own recognizance and a court date of 7/1/14 is pending.

06-30-2014 – Ivan Clodoveo-Pesantez age 36 of Newark was arrested by Officer Luca Piscitelli at 1:24 am for DWI on Bloomfield Avenue near Conger Street.
Mr. Clodoveo was issued summonses for:
1- DWI
2- Unlicensed driver
3- Prohibited left turn
then released on his own recognizance with a court date of 7/3/14 pending.

ARRESTS

06-26-2014 – Santos Roman of Bloomfield was arrested by Officer Dominick Sodano, Officeer Hector Cartagena and Sergeant Thomas Fano for Hindering apprehension and exhibiting false government documents at 1:17 pm on Edison Street.
After a 57 year old Bloomfield resident called police to report that her boyfriend had taken her car without permission and was now sleeping in his vehicle in her back yard. The victim wanted to sign a complaint for the theft of her car and Mr. Roman was placed under arrest. Originally during the Officer’s initial investigation, Mr. Roman showed a fake identification and was charged. Mr. Roman was transported to Police HQ’s where a bail of $15,000.00 with a 10% option was set and a court date of 7/3/14 is pending.

06-26-2014 – Joshua Peters age 19 of Hillside was arrested by Union PD for having an active $350.00 traffic warrant out of Bloomfield. Officers Stefano Barillari and Shona Maldonado responded to Union to take custody of Mr. Peters and transport him to Bloomfield Police HQ’s. Mr. Peters was released on his own recognizance by the Honorable Judge John Paparazzo and given a new court date of 7-10-14.

06-26-2014 – Chaz Porter age 23 of Hamilton was arrested by Officer Anthony Piccinno at 3:52 pm for having an active $1000.00 traffic warrant out of Bloomfield. Officer Piccinno along with Officer Stefano Barillari responded to Hamilton, NJ to pick up and take custody of Mr. Porter who had been arrested for the warrant by Hamilton PD.

06-27-2014 – Terrell McDowell age 18 of Avenel was arrested by Officer Jonathan Donker at 3:59 am for having an active $482.00 warrant out of Woodbridge.

On June 29, 2014 Michael Baker Jr., age 25 of Bloomfield was arrested for Burglary, Robbery and Resisting Arrest.
At 4:20 am Officer Nader Sarabamoun responded to the 100 block of Whittle Avenue on a call from a resident of a burglary in progress. Officer Sarabamoun along with Officer Jose Munoz arrived on scene just as the suspect/arrestee was exiting the home through the front door with the homeowner/victim right behind him. When the two officers attempted to place the suspect under arrest he became irate and fought with them until they were able to gain control and place Mr. Baker Jr. under arrest. Mr. Baker Jr. was transported to Police HQ’s where he continued to be irate and combative. Bail was set at $85,000.00 with no 10% option by the Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone and a court date of 7/9/2014
