labor day weekend

This is the last weekend before school starts and a three-day Labor Day weekend, so get out and have some family fun!

There aren’t many local events going on, but the long Labor Day weekend will give you many options.

To make sure you’re always in the know when it comes to family events, parenting resources and discussion, sign up for our newsletter, which offers a great recap of our best stories, event information, guides and exclusive giveaways. And make sure to “like” us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and check out our  Pinterest page. We post a lot of important information over there, so you don’t want to miss out.

Here are this weekend’s highlights:

You can take a Day Trip or two, take advantage of your local pool before it closes, head down The Shore (Seven President’s Oceanfront Park or Wildwood are great options), or go spend the day running in the sprinklers at a spray park.

Get your child some biking skill before school starts at TransOptions Bike Right Learn to Ride class at Essex Environmental Center on Saturday. (Saturday, August 30)

Celebrate Labor Day weekend in Lyndhurst.  There’s a section for kids with face painting, a magic show, sand art, swing sets and Montclair’s Jason Didner and the Jungle Gym Jam will perform Jersey family-friendly rock-’n-roll. (Sunday, August 31)

Take a leisurely paddle on the Passaic River! Paddlers will enjoy scenery and peacefulness as they paddle up the river and float back downstream. (Monday, September 1)
