Good food, drinks, and community conversation. It all happens at the first Montclair The Feast Worldwide on October 11 at 7 pm.
The Feast Worldwide sparks independent dinner events in 40+ cities to “rally around the change makers moving the world forward. Each city is invited to present their own vision for the future and curate the most inspiring entrepreneurs making it happen. Guests choose one to sit with over dinner — and instead of talking about problems, they talk about ways to support each other, collaborate, and make the world work better.”
Montclair resident Helene Richman, of brandhelene and co-founder of Montclair Pop-Up, is organizing The Feast Worldwide in Montclair. After being inspired at a Feast she attended in New York, she knew she wanted to bring one to her community.
“I have always wanted to create Salon like events in Montclair where people can get together over a good meal and discuss social issues and perhaps solutions.” says Helene. “I starting attending their monthly dinners in NY and was asked if I would be a Hub leader in Montclair.”
Helene agreed and became Montclair’s Hub Leader working with a team of other volunteers who are helping her pull off The Feast, like Jerri Chou, NY Hub leader and founder of The Feast.
The Feast Worldwide is about connecting with each other over a simple meal and weighing into a global problem solving session. Frustrated by the barriers to true participation in a time that needs it most, the organizers of each dinner ask participants to do just that — participate. “We’re flipping the model on its head and saying ‘you can’t buy change, you have to create it,'” says Chou. “It’s not about talk, it’s about action.”
“This is more than a dinner,” said Chou. “It’s a movement to change the way we do good.”
Mingle with other Feasters while you nibble on local cheese, breads and veggies – sipping cocktails from Blue J syrups and Busted Barrel (Jersey Artisan Distilling ) – live music and interactive art .
Salad made from what is in harvest in the community gardens and backyards, family style main entrees: Meat and Vegetarian options will be provided – (no vegan option), and a dessert bar!
