Montclair Schools “True Blue Spirit” Lecture Series Presents “What Would Yogi Do?” Author John McCarthy

what-would-yogi-do The Montclair Public Schools (MPS) and Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence (MFEE) announced expansive efforts for the District’s “True Blue Spirit” initiative to now include a variety of diverse student leadership events and trainings for school coaches.

The leadership initiative will include a new Athletic Lecture Series being sponsored by the MHS Athletic Department, offering an integrated professional development program throughout the year for coaches, parents and students.

The first lecture will take place on Tuesday, December 9 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Montclair High School, showcasing John McCarthy, author of the book “What Would Yogi Do?”; John Porcelli, former Montclair High School Athletic Director and Larry Berra, Yogi Berra’s oldest son, Montclair High School athlete and graduate.

Montclair State University Professor John McCarthy’s new book “What Would YOGI DO?” looks at youth sports and all its participants — athletes, parents and coaches — and aims to teach and change the culture using Yogi Berra as an example of the “right way”.
