2015 Discover Jersey Arts People’s Choice Awards

Discover Jersey Arts has released its nominations for the 2015 Discover Jersey Arts People’s Choice Awards and organizations in Essex County have garnered many well-deserved nominations. (The polls are now open and ballots are prepped for arts lovers statewide to vote for their favorite New Jersey arts organizations through February 19.

For the second year in a row, a record-breaking number of nominations were received in 16 categories. From favorite theater to see a play to favorite dance company, favorite art gallery to favorite choral group, it’s the public’s turn to decide who’s who among the Garden State’s cultural community.

The JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards take place annually to honor the work of NJ’s vital, vibrant and diverse arts organizations. More than 100 organizations and downtown arts districts were nominated this year—the largest amount of nominees the Awards has received since its creation in 2008:

  • The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) and Newark Museum are nominated in the Art Museum category.
  • Montclair Art Museum’s Yard School of Art is nominated in the Adult Art Class category and the Art Camp category.
  • New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC)is nominated in the Large Performing Arts Center category.
  • Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University and South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC )are nominated in the Small Performing Arts Center category.
  • George Segal Gallery at Montclair State University is nominated in the Art Gallery category.
  • Paper Mill Playhouse is nominated in the Theater to See a Musical category and the Theater Camp category.
  • Luna Stage is nominated in the Luna Stage Theater to See a Play category.
  • NJSO: New Jersey Symphony Orchestra is nominated in the Symphony/Orchestra category.
  • Montclair Jazz Festival, Maplewoodstock, and South Mountain International Blues Festival are nominated in the Music Festival category.
  • Montclair Film Festival and the Newark Black Film Festival are nominated in the Film Festival category.
  • Montclair and Newark are nominated in the Downtown Arts District category.
